Pair follow parents' footsteps

HOCKEY runs in the blood of Kiah Williams and Sandon Isle.

Each have had a parent play hockey at state level and the two 12-year-olds are about to follow in their footsteps.

The Peel Hockey Association pair have each been selected to represent Western Australia at the State School National Australian Championships to be held in Newcastle from August 8-14.

Williams, a fullback, and Isle, a striker, have each been playing hockey since the age of five and this year’s state selection is the pairs’ first.

They survived four elimination trials in Perth and beat 80 other boys and girls who tried out for the WA squad earlier in the year.

In the lead up to the nationals the pair will train with their WA teammates in Perth once each week on top of their commitments to their Peel Hockey Association teams.

Both play upper primary on the weekends and above their age group with the 15s side.

Williams also plays in the women’s competition and Isle also plays football for the Mandurah Centrals.
