THE SmokeFree WA Diamonds are on a mission to win their third AHL title in three years at Perth Hockey Stadium at the end of March.

In the meantime there are some exciting practice matches happening against some tough opposition in preparation for the event.

On Sunday, the Diamonds played Yamanashi Gakuin, one of Japan’s top national league sides, who are in Australia on a training camp.

Yamanashi Gakuin was triumphant in the practice match beating the Diamonds 4-1.

As they were playing for training purposes there was a bit of extra time played after the event which saw the Diamonds score an extra goal.

This game was the only one to be played outside of the Perth Hockey Stadium so now the Diamonds will be heading back to Perth to prepare for the Australian Hockey League Tournament.

All state hockey teams will be gathering at the Perth Hockey Stadium this Sunday Monday to being the tournament and battle it out for the title.
