THE WAFL Variety Pre-Season Challenge is now over and the real action begins in the WA’s leading football competition this weekend.
In the last practice round last week Peel Thunder was buoyed by a two-point win over Swan Districts at Bendigo Bank Stadium (the former Rushton Park).
Thunder kicked 11.12 (78) to down the Swans 11.10 (76) in a nail-biter.
This was Thunder’s first win in the pre-season competition while Swan Districts didn’t claim a win.
In other games last weekend Claremont 18.16 (124) d East Perth 9.5 (59), South Fremantle 15.10 (100) d Subiaco 11.9 (79) and West Perth 13.9 (82) d Perth 5.10 (40).
Claremont and East Fremantle were the two undefeated teams Variety Pre-Season Challenge.
ROUND one of the 2010 AAMI WAFL premiership season kicks off this Friday night with South Fremantle taking on East Perth at Fremantle Oval.
On Saturday South Fremnatle will host East Perth, also at Fremantle Oval, while West Perth will play Swan Districts at Joondalup Arena, Perth will play East Fremantle at EFTel Oval and Peel Thunder has the big challenge of taking on Claremont here in Mandurah.
In the Mandurah game the colts kick off the action at 9.15am, followed by the reserves at 11.45am and the league at 2.15pm.
The game will be broadcast on 107.9FM.
