MIDFIELDER Ben Howlett was announced Peel Thunder’s best and fairest at the club’s awards presentation at the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre last Friday night.
Howlett produced an outstanding second half of the season to run away with the Tuckey medal win on176 votes.
Simon Rosa, who will not play on for Thunder next season, finished runner up on 115 votes.
Rosa told the club at the end of the season he wanted to return to Bendigo as his wife Kristy is expecting their first child.
Fellow midfielder Rory O’Brien placed third on 111 votes and defender Hayden McLeod was fourth on 83 votes.
Rosa also won the Mandurah Mail Players’ Player award.
Also on the night Peel Thunder announced their new senior coach and football manager for the 2010 season.
Former Peel colts premiership coach Trevor Williams will lead the Thunder next season while Darryl Wilson from the Bendigo Bombers will take over as the new football manager.
