MANDURAH Magic men finally had something to celebrate after they won their second game of the season in the State Basketball League last Saturday night.
Bottom of the ladder with just one win and a 13-game losing streak, the Magic were given little hope of beating East Perth who have won sevens games this year.
But the Magic stunned the Eagles with a 28-19 opening term and never looked back, increasing their lead at every change to notch a stunning 103-74 victory.
Leading the way for the Magic men was Tom Remmerswaal with a game high 27 points and 13 rebounds and Aaron Trahair with 18 points.
The Magic made the most of their opportunities, scoring 12 points off second chances while the Eagles converted just two.
The Magic is also in with a good chance to record a further two wins this weekend when they take on the Rockingham Flames and Southwest Slammers in a double header round.
The round will kick off tomorrow night against the Flames at Mike Barnett Sports Complex.
The Flames are 11th on the SBL ladder with seven wins and 15 losses.
The last time Magic played the Flames was in round 11 at the Mandurah Aquatic and Recreation Centre (MARC) with the home side losing 92-113.
On Saturday night the Magic will host the Slammers, who are second from the bottom of the table with six wins and 16 losses, at the MARC.
The last time the two sides played the Slammers won 92-80 in round three at the Eaton Recreation Centre.
The Magic women appeared to have the edge over the East Perth Eagles in their match last Saturday night at the MARC but a 23-13 third quarter burst saw the visitors set up a gutsy 74-63 win.
Former Australian representative Wilson was in great touch for the Eagles with 14 points and 13 rebounds.
For the Magic Shelley Boston scored 18 points and collected 20 rebounds, Gemma Thomas and Kelli Hayward shot 12 each and Tarsha Fletcher scored 11.
The Magic women remain in seventh position on the SBL ladder despite the loss but will need to lift in their double-header round this weekend to keep their season alive.
The last time they played the Flames Magic won 76-53 in round 11 and they lost to the Slammers in round three 41-61.
