Volunteers respond to flare sighting

A RED flare was sighted approximately 1.8km off Melros Beach on Monday morning of last week.

A six-metre runabout with two people on board required assistance when the vessel broke down.

It took the Mandurah Water Rescue Group more than an hour to locate the vessel which was towed to the Bouvard marina.

On Thursday morning at 10am Peel Water Police needed assistance recovering a dinghy approximately 2km south of the Dawesville Cut.

A passing vessel also went to the aid of the dinghy crew.

A 18-metre flybridge cruiser ran aground on a sandbar in Mandjar Bay on Sunday afternoon at about 2pm.

There were three people on board and the boat was towed to deeper water.

Mandurah Water Rescue is hosting a radio course starting on March 22.

Mandurah Water Rescue cadets welcome young people aged between 13 and 17 years of age to join them and learn marine activities.
