Science lesson becomes ‘cool’

24 Oct, 2007 03:08 PM
SCHOOL children at Foundation Christian College were treated to the Sci Tech Road show on Tuesday.

The Sci Tech experience was initially intended to be an excursion involving just one class but the expenses involved meant it was more economical to present it to a bigger audience.

Students from years seven through to 12 got to miss a few hours of school and see the many wonders of Sci Tech’s exhibitions.

Many of the younger crowd gazed n wonder and excitement at the ‘cooler’ aspects of science in the ‘Supercool’ display.

Hosted by Kate Reuben and Matt Titmanis, ‘Supercool’ was a display of the interesting abilities of liquid nitrogen, involving blowing up a balloon until it exploded, freezing a rubber duck until it shattered and shrinking a balloon animal.

With three activities occurring simultaneously, including the Space Dome, ‘Supercool’, and Science of Flight, different age groups of students rotated between the activities throughout the day.
