Roof to be fixed

03 Jul, 2009 11:00 AM
CARCOOLA Primary School is to get a new roof.

Heavy rain in recent weeks has flooded several classrooms, causing waterlogged carpets and forcing students to move into the few classrooms that don’t leak.

The school and local community has been campaigning to have the roof upgraded for some time.

Murray-Wellington MLA Murray Cowper said after two years of appealing to the Education Department the roof will be fixed.

“A temporary solution has been put in place for the time being, but the Minister for Education’s office has confirmed the school will be getting a new roof this coming summer”, Mr Cowper said

“Due to the safety of the students, the work will take place during the summer school holidays”.
