CHANGES have been made to some local polling places for the State election on September 6.
Mandurah district returning officer Derek Summers said this followed feedback from the community while other centres had previous bookings.
The Foundation Christian College will be used instead of Bortolo Pavilion and the Eastlake Church while Mandurah High School will be used instead of Baden Powell Hall.
The final change will be to the Assumption Catholic Primary School instead of Frederick Irwin Anglican School.
Additional rooms will be also used at the Mandurah Primary School to combat any long queues.
Apart from these changes, the polling places are the same as previous State elections.
Mr Summers said the school principals were cooperative and keen to make their schools available.
“Knowing I can rely on schools in the district makes my election preparations much easier,” Mr Summer said.
“Some of the principals made excellent suggestions for improvement, which have since been acted upon.
“I’d like to especially thank the local dance club, which kindly agreed to cancel their regular Saturday morning booking at the Madora Bay Community Hall for it to be used on polling day.”
Western Australian Electoral Commissioner Warwick Gately said residents should look out for the Easy Voter card set to be delivered to every household.
The card includes information about the election including district maps and polling place details.
