HUMAN remains believed to be those of fatal shark attack victim Peter Kurmann have been found washed up on Preston Beach.
The grisly discovery was made by members of the public at 8am.
A nearby ranger was notified before police and forensics officers were called in.
Thirty-three-year-old Mr Kurmann was killed by what is believed to be a great white shark off Busselton on March 31.
His family has been notified of today's find.
Preston Beach is currently closed.
Police said the remains have been removed and will be taken to Perth for examination.
They say the remains are "likely connected to the recent fatal shark attack".
Earthmoving equipment has been called in to clear the top layers of sand at the beach.
The beach is expected to be re-opened this afternoon.
