Houseboats stranded

HOUSEBOATS were involved in two separate incidents on Mandurah waters last weekend.

One boat, with seven people on board, ran aground at Boundary Island while another one, with six people on board, ran out of fuel halfway between Ravenswood and Pinjarra.

Three Mandurah Water Rescue vessels responded to both incidents.

Rescue volunteers also towed an eight metre Searay craft from inside the Dawesville Cut back to the Mandurah Ocean Marina after it had mechanical problems.

In the Sticks Channel near Mandurah Quay a 4.2m runabout with three people on board also had mechanical problems and was towed to safety.

Mandurah Water Rescue cadets meet on Thursday evenings at 6.30pm at the Water Rescue Building during the school term.

Boys and girls aged between 13 and 17 years are welcome to attend.

Mandurah Water Rescue Group is available on marine radio (channel 88 is the 27MHZ emergency channel while 91 is the working channel.)

Channel 16 is the VHF emergency channel and the VHF working channels are 73 and 82.

The HF channel 4125 and is monitored by the group.
