Houseboats stranded in shallow water

18 Mar, 2010 08:49 AM
SIX people on a houseboat were stranded in the Dawesville Cut last Tuesday morning when the vessel ran aground.

Two Mandurah Water rescue boats towed the vessel of the sandbar and into deeper water.

Later that evening at 8.15pm a four-metre runabout broke down in the estuary with three people on board and was towed the vessel to the Waterside canal jetty.

A vessel reported a sighting of a two-metre shark in the Peel Inlet on Thursday and Mandurah Water Rescue advised the Peel Water Police.

On Friday morning a jet ski was reported adrift in Comet Bay.

Two people were sighted waving for assistance when they broke down with a flat battery.

The vessel was drifting towards rocks in the channel and was towed by safety by a passing boat.

A 10m houseboat with six people on board ran aground in the Serpentine River last Saturday afternoon.

Two rescue boats pulled the houseboat of the sand and it was escorted safely to the Coopers Mill area.

The following day at 9.45am, six people on a 10m houseboat ran aground south of the Mandurah Traffic Bridge.

The Peel Water Police and Mandurah Water Rescue are participating in a training exercise in Comet Bay on Wednesday March 24 and will be supplying vessels and volunteers for the exercise which will be in the early morning.
