A TRAGIC occurrence can always bring out the best in people as Taylar Cochraine has realised following the hit and run of Stephanie Baker.
Stephanie was walking with two friends when she was struck by a car in Dawesville in May 16 and has been in hospital since.
Despite not knowing the hit and run victim student, Taylar found the horrific incident an inspiration to write a song letting her know “everything is going to be alright”.
Taylar has been playing the guitar for three years now and until the incident had written songs based around his own experiences.
“I did not know Steph,” Taylor said.
“I just felt affected myself like how could anyone do that?
“I felt so bad and so sorry so I thought it would be nice to take time out to write a song for Steph and the Baker family and friends.”
The accident undoubtedly affected many people throughout Mandurah and Taylar is just one of the people who have indirectly been affected by the incident.
While he didn’t want to release the lyrics of the song unless the Baker family wished to he said the song was an uplifting one because he always had an inkling that she would make it through the ordeal.
“I don’t know why I wrote the song for Steph,” he said.
“I just felt so god dam sorry for her.
“I have recorded the song only once and at that time Steph was in hospital and nobody had a clue on what was going to happen with her.
“Which is why I wanted to hurry up and get it to her somehow before the worst.
“But honestly I knew from day one she was going to be alright which is why I named the song Everything is Going to be Alright.”
He hoped Stephanie would to listen to it while she was in hospital so it could give her hope for the future.
“I want her to feel that there are people out there who feel the same way I do,” Taylar said.
Taylar plans to send the CD to the hospital with one of Stephanie’s friends.
