WORK has started on expanding the Mandurah Train Station car park.
Fencing was installed on Monday and clearing and site works are scheduled to start later in the week.
Transport Minister Simon O’Brien said the work was being carried out as part of a $49.5million car park expansion project, which would see 3000 new parking bays built at stations on the Mandurah and Joondalup lines.
“Additional pay-and-display bays are being built in the south-west corner of the existing car park,” Mr O’Brien said.
“Also two small areas within the existing car park will be reconfigured to provide an increase of 280 bays, bringing their total number at Mandurah to more than 1,150, including fully accessible bays.
The project is expected to be finished by June.
