Dry weather sparks more water use

19/08/2008 10:01:00 AM
THE recent spell of fine weather in the South West has seen a jump in residential water use and the Water Corporation has called on householders to adhere to the sprinkler roster system and remain vigilant on water efficiency.

South West regional business manager Scott Moorhead said the warmer weather of the last week saw a spike in residential watering in the region.

“However, residents must remember to only water on their two rostered watering days a week, either before 9am or after 6pm,” Mr Moorhead said.

Water Corporation inspectors will be making sure people observe the roster system.

“Experts agree that watering two days a week is enough to keep lawns and gardens alive and healthy,” Mr Moorhead said.
