MY NAME is Kate Hedley and I’m addicted to Facebook.
It’s true – I love it.
Not only does it feed my slightly unhinged habit of stalking ex-boyfriends, it allows me to keep in touch with friends and family on the other side of the world.
It has put me in touch with old school friends and long-lost family members as well as introduced me to a whole bunch of new friends.
Here at the Mandurah Mail, we have been abuzz all week as our own Facebook site has started to hit its straps and gain in popularity.
Those of us old enough to remember award acceptance speeches from years ago feel a bit like Sally Field accepting her 1985Oscar for Places in the Heart - you like us! You really like us!
And, as we near the 500 ‘likers’ mark, we want to say thanks to those who have joined us in the online revolution taking place right before our very eyes.
The business of news is changing, and we are all about keeping up with those changes and providing people with alternative avenues by which to get the latest goings on in our community.
At the click of a button our Facebook page will lead you to breaking news stories, competitions, polls, photo galleries and more.
We will always have the newspaper.
But now we are offering other options, too.
To gain instant – and free – access to up-to-the-minute news, find us on Facebook, click ‘like’, and regular news updates will be yours.
So let’s be friends – just don’t tell my ex-boyfriends about our plans!
